Stewardship Development was founded by Bill Syrios,
Greg Whiteley, and Amanda Perkins, whose partnership has its roots in Stewardship Properties: a seasoned real estate investment company with a rich history spanning over three decades. Since its inception in 1989 (yes, that's a watch pager!), Stewardship Properties has strategically acquired and held real estate assets across key markets including Oregon, Washington, Texas, Missouri, and Kansas.
With a commitment to long-term value creation, Stewardship Development has emerged as a trusted player in the affordable housing landscape.

In 2021, Stewardship Development was founded with its focus on the development of multifamily affordable housing. This strategic shift aligns with the company's ethos of responsible development and community stewardship. Leveraging its extensive experience and network, Stewardship embarked on this new venture with a vision to address the growing demand for affordable housing solutions.
Pictured right is the first development completed by Stewardship - Ketanji Court in Eugene, OR - which created housing for 59 households earning below 60% the Area Median Income (AMI).

Stewardship's comprehensive approach to development means we are involved through every step of the process, including land
acquisition; securing federal, state and local funding; overseeing the design and construction process; and ensuring compliance through lease-up and beyond.
The company's skilled affordable housing team works alongside trusted developer consultants, architects, general contractors, and funding partners to create high-quality, sustainable housing solutions that strengthen communities.

Originally started in Eugene, Oregon, Stewardship expanded into Washington, Kansas, Missouri and Texas. With Stewardship's eighth affordable development set to complete construction by the end of 2027, the company is poised to continue shaping the equitable housing space while fulfilling its commitment to social responsibility and quality craftsmanship. People are at the center of what we do- and we believe everyone deserves a beautiful space to call home.
To loosely quote Jim Collins, Profit is to a business what air and water are to life. We must have them, or we die. Likewise, without profits, a company will eventually fail. However, we do not live for the air we breathe or the water we drink. They are means to a greater end.
While here, good stewards take on the task of skillfully managing that with which they have been entrusted for the benefit of all those involved. Applied to real estate--that is who we are and what we do.
Our namesake constantly reminds us that "it was never about money." For some of the projects we are owners, but we don't see ourselves as such. Instead we are managers, or better yet, stewards, seeking to make a difference in service of others.
